Had one of these as a loaner when my 14' sport was getting worked on. It drives like a dream and corners extremely well, didn't even feel like I was driving at all

Highly persuasive ! Ginny with her arguments and Land Rover with its features.
A good reason to buy this over the Evoque (at least in Finland) is that range and land rover have the same image anyway and this is just 3k more expensive than an evoque.
At least the rear number plate is not offset!

Same width and length as a VW Golf?! Just checked the dimensions of both cars, the Discovery Sport is still much bigger.

The Disco is 4,599mm long by 2,173mm wide, presumably with mirrors. The Golf is 4,258mm long by 2,027mm wide, including mirrors. If, by "about the same length and width", she means "more than a foot shorter and nearly half a foot narrower", then sure, a Golf it is.

Test drive one to decide to buy or not. Fortunately previously I tested a Q5 and I could see the difference. LR was full of nasty plastic inside. Much better quality the Q5. And the price was about 61800euro the LR and 64500 euro the Q5. So not much difference and Q5 had LED matrix headlights on it. Driving in city seemed about the same. Just more quiet in the Q5 and the adaptive suspension was good on potholes. I bought the Q5. German is German. Yes the stereotype it still alive and well and for good reasons.

I work in manfucture of these lights. Seeing every day hundreds of these being manufacture right next to my office for past 2years.
Funny thing is.....I participate on creating something this beautiful....but won't be ever able to afford it :D And I'm not even talking about people working on assembly lines who have pay much lower than mine.

New centre console, revised door casings, new lights, new alloys, digital dials and new front and rear design accents. New colours inside and outside, with the likely withdrawal of Granite interior colour.
Disco Sport 2 is *already* in early stage development, pencilled in for late 2020. Likely to be exactly the same size as this car.

Ever since I bought another car that’s not LR or RR after 20 years I’ve realised how crap they are...
So hopefully this will be better
It got a facelift in 2020, not 2018. It was about two years late imo. There’s no reason it should’ve looked so dated for so long.
I work with some JLR people. The infotainment system on the Disco is apparently so bad one guy's kids asked if they could go back to their old DVD player. You're not going to see Apple carplay anytime soon either. The bug list on their infotainment system is so extensive they're too embarrassed to provide it to Apple as part of the carplay licensing arrangement.

The interior is very old fashioned with a lot of plastic.
No words about the lacklustre and noisy engine, the disappointing fuel consumption and most of all the huge list of people who've had small to serious reliability problems with this car.
How about you provide some links / references to back this up, rather that just "stating" it as fact.
Is that the 2.2l Transit engine or the JLR 2.0 which is a totally different beast?

I’m in the market for a suv but it’s been harder to choose than i thought because it seems as if no suv gives u good gas mileage, good pricing, great features, nice styling, and some power all at once. I’m trying to choose between this Durango RT, grand Cherokee. If i opted for a vehicle it would be the new 2019 Avalon Touring but I’m really trying to go for an suv this time around but doesn’t look like I’ll be able to ultimately choose one especially if the gas mileage isn’t good. FML😫😫😫

We own the same spec discovery sport hse dynamic lux and have had no issues. Jaguar Land Rover products aren’t as unreliable as you all make them out to be. You just hear about them more because they are a premium brand and considering Audi and bmw are more unreliable cars than JLR you never see people like yourself commenting about their unreliability

What are owners' experiences on long-term reliability ? I visited my cousin in Perth, Australia in 2013, for just five days, and their Disco started emitting blue/black smoke, and had to been returned for repairs.
Just go to some of the forums and you'll see what the DS is like...
Pretty good. But you’ll find lots of jealous X3 and Q5 owners talking it down!
We own one in the same hse dynamic lux spec and everything works perfectly fine. Been no problems whatsoever, brilliant all round car

design wise, it could be sleeker. I really hate the rear light treatment or the front fascia. it's a bit stubby
Its not nearly the same size as VW Golf, nor is the visibility excellent imo. High dashboard and bonnet heavily limit visibility to lower front sides when turning. Latter seems more and more common with premium cars recently, unfortunately
it's not nitpicking on interior quality if you pay for premium, i mean take the new cx-5 for example, it probably got the same interior quality as this car if not more but much better design
The CX5 has great interior materials. But is limited in towing ability, off road ability, and feminine in styling. The LRD has flaws, but it manages to combine off road and on-road manners and good styling like few do. Some will pay for this in an otherwise mediocre vehicle. It depends on what you value.
I have an s-max and it drives amazingly and has a bit more room but costs loads less.

Any long term ownership reviews? Wouldn't mind a DS as i like pretty much everything about them except the dreaded LR reliability. My 2007 Focus has never ever let me down but don't like the idea of being stranded or rolling home in limp mode in one of these
Okay I've had mine for about one and a half years. (Used 17. SE trim). The only issue I had was that the start and stop system didn't work and that was from me installing a wrong battery.
Nothing was mentioned about mileage!

Duke The Discovery is bigger and drives better. Evoque is probably more practical if you live in town.

Same length as a Golf????? What??? Well then try to put 7 people in a golf.... I thought she has some experience not to say such a silly things. It proves that you shouldn't read everything what's on paper...especially if it's doesn't make any sense. The experienced person would have been picked up this mistake...

Land Rover as a whole earned a reputation for being unreliable in the early and mid-2000s. They’ve gotten a lot better in recent years but they’re still less reliable than other brands like Toyota which are extremely reliable. Land Rover is on par with Jeep when it comes to reliability which isn’t very good lol
If it has the word "Sport" in the name it should have some sort of performance engine option. Maybe that supercharged V6 from the Discovery? Come on Land Rover.

At least it’s not as pitiful as the Subaru Forester Sport having the same 4-cylinder 180hp engine as the rest of them. The Discovery Sport has 240hp or up to 280hp with an upgrade.
The Land Drover was designed to be a off road car,not for one person taking one or two children to school 😂 It’s Not practical with fuel..

After reading comments I've decided to stick with my Fabia MK1.
So many SILLY comments! ANY vehicle can have problems my wife works for AUDI and you want to hear some of the horror stories about their vehicles! and as for one person's comments about how good the Q7 is, they are deluded.

It's nice but it's not a Discovery.Up until this model,they've all been square and just look ready to go off-road.Land-Rover have done to this what they're in the process of doing to the Defender.Why not just call both vehicles by a different name and keep the original Discovery and Defender shape going albeit in an updated form?
The discovery 5 is a bigger version of this and it isn't boxy anymore things evolve okay

Land Rover Discovery often makes the top 10 charts of least reliable vehicles. This review makes it sound like this is arguably the best suv in its class. I understand the bias towards british products but its a bit too much here. You lose credibility this way.
EVTIM would much rather have the Toyota trd pro for the same price as an optioned out one of these

Range Rover's disastrous reliability means I would never consider buying one.
They’re not even unreliable anymore. That’s just the reputation they got in the early and mid 2000s while Ford owned them. Ford sold them in the early 2010s and they’ve been fine since then for the most part. Ford is a disaster.
